Travel to Gansbaai, South Africa and take part in a Great White Shark volunteer program.
Known as the White Shark Capital of the World, Gansbaai is a popular destination for tourists hoping to experience that majesty of Great White Sharks in person.
This exciting volunteer opportunity works alongside marine conservationists and biologists as they study Great White Sharks as well as other South African marine wildlife. You will assist crew and tourists on the shark cage-diving and whale-watching/eco-tour vessels and will have the opportunity to lend a hand to biologists in their study of shark biology, behavior and marine conservation. You may choose a duration of 1-12 weeks at this exciting program, pricing is outlined in the itinerary below.
As a volunteer, you will take part in critical conservation efforts as well as related community projects, including beach clean-ups. You will also have the chance to go on shark cage dives, and if volunteering for more than 4 weeks, you may go on the research boat.
This is the experience of a lifetime for nature-lovers, people interested in responsible ecotourism, or anyone who ever dreamed, or is dreaming of becoming a marine biologist!
Working alongside world leaders in responsible marine ecotourism, research, and conservation. Help with daily tourism operations, educate ecotourists, and assist marine biologists with their data collection on Great White and Bronze Whaler Sharks, whales, dolphins, and other marine species.
