Program duration: 1 week

Experience island life in Fiji while participating in a Marine Conservation & Diving program. Through your time on this program, you’ll have the opportunity to explore the crystal clear waters of the Pacific, the vibrant towns and villages, and rich culture, while making a difference.

If you do not already have your PADI Open Water, you’ll have the opportunity to get certified on site. We highly recommend taking the courses, as you will not want to miss the chance to dive in these picture-perfect waters.

The goal of this program is to better understand and educate local communities about the marine resources on the Fijian island of Beqa. You’ll participate in data surveys of the reefs, learn research skills, learn to identify different species, and much more including:

  • Study and work to conserve a variety of invertebrate species
  • Explore mangrove forests, seagrass beds, and intertidal areas
  • Record feeding habits and behaviour of marine life
  • Habitat mapping
  • Work with local communities to raise awareness and appreciation of marine life

Don’t miss out on this wonderful volunteer opportunity to learn new skills and help make a difference.

What to Expect:

After your arrival, you will be transferred to the project site. If you are not arriving on the first Monday of the month, you will need to make your own way to the project.

You will stay in a comfortable timber frame house, five minutes from the Bay. Your stay will be rustic, but a truly authentic experience.

Aside from diving and marine conservation, you might be asked to assist with data entry and camp maintenance. As a volunteer, you should prepare to take turns with cooking, cleaning, rinsing dive gear, and assist with other important camp duties.
