Travel to Ecuador and join an incredible Galapagos Photography Tour, alongside accomplished photographer, Charles Steinberg. 

This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for you learn from Charles and elevate your own photography skills in this wildlife-rich environment. With one-on-one instruction, group critiques, and evening presentations, you’ll receive the guidance you need to capture the images of animals in action.

The itinerary is crafted for all levels of photographers, whether you’re simply starting out or looking for new tricks. Every day will enable you to make the most of the exciting photo opportunities that lie ahead of you.

As you explore this biologically diverse world, you’ll be surrounded by rolling turquoise seas and black lava rock islands, you’ll be in awe of the array of wildlife. From blue-footed boobies to iguanas, tortoises, and sea lions, there is so much to explore.

This is your chance to get up close and personal to wildlife, with the guidance of a Naturalist guide to answer any and all of your questions and show you the jewels of the Galapagos!

Day 1: Quito Arrival Day (Nov 9)

Welcome to Ecuador! You will arrive in Quito, the capital city, and a mix of contemporary, Indigenous, and Spanish Colonial history. 

Today there are no planned activities, so you will have an opportunity to check into the boutique hotel and take some time to explore the city. 

Tonight you will enjoy an evening welcome meeting followed by dinner. 

Day 2: San Cristobal Island (Nov 10)

Today you will board a short flight to San Cristobal Island. 

Enjoy your first encounter with Sea Lions as you visit their local hangout and play, nap, and pose for your camera. 

Take advantage of some free time to swim and snorkel alongside the sea lions, and possibly witness sea turtles as well! 

Watch the sun set before heading into town for dinner at a local restaurant. Tonight enjoy an evening photography presentation. 

Day 3: San Cristobal Island (Nov 11)

Today you'll be introduced to the underwater world of the Galapagos. You'll take a morning boat ride to Kicker Rock or Isla Lobos. 

On the way, you'll spot some of the many species of wildlife including blue-footed boobies, nesting frigate birds, pelicans, and sea lions. 

Take a dip in the crystal clear seas and watch for manta rays, puffer fish, sea turtles, and chocolate chip starfish. 

This afternoon, enjoy some free time for independent photography, followed by an evening photography presentation. 

Day 4: Isabela Island (Nov 12)

Today you will visit the interpretation centre to gain a deeper understanding of the volcanic origins, ecosystems, cultural history, and conservation efforts in the Galapagos. 

Take a short hike to Frigate Bird Hill where you'll get to photograph a mixed colony of Magnificent Frigate and Great Frigate Birds. Check out the stunning views of Charles Darwin Bay. 

This afternoon, you'll travel by speedboat to Isabela Island, one of the most beautiful islands in the archipelago. 

Tonight you'll enjoy an evening photography presentation. 

Day 5: Isabela Island (Nov 13)

Travel by zodiac to Shark Alley, known for white-tip reef sharks. Take a short walk in the isolated inlet through an iguana nesting site where you can photograph marine iguanas. 

Enjoy a snorkel and watch for colourful fish, and possibly green sea turtles resting on the seafloor. 

This afternoon you'll return to the town of Puerto Villamil to observe the sunset. 

Enjoy an evening photography presentation.

Day 6: Isabela Island (Nov 14)

Today is a free day to enjoy a multitude of activities including: 

  • Hike Volcano Sierra Negra
  • Snorkel at Concha y Perla
  • Bike to the Wall of Tears
  • Relax at the beachfront hotel

Day 7: Santa Cruz Island (Nov 15)

Some of the best coffee beans are grown on the Galapagos Islands, so this morning you'll travel to the highlands to meet a local organic farmer who will walk you through the land and the roasting process. You'll have an opportunity to taste and purchase coffee directly from the producer. 

Later, you will head to Santa Cruz Island, with time to explore the streets of Santa Cruz or organize your photos. 

This evening, join the locals on Calle de los Kiosks, a back street where food stall restaurants are set up for open-air dining. 

Enjoy an evening photography presentation.

Day 8: Santa Cruz Island (Nov 16)

Start the day with a 45-minute walk to Tortuga Bay. Explore some of the most beautiful beaches in the Galapagos. You will likely encounter blue-footed boobies in this area, as well as lava lizards, and enormous marine iguanas. 

Your final excursion will be to the Giant Tortoise nature reserve where you'll observe massive tortoises in the highland habitat. Finish with an underground exploration of the lava tunnels. 

Tonight you'll have a final evening presentation to share your favourite photos. 

Day 9: Return to Quito (Nov 17)

Today you will board a flight to Quito and enjoy a farewell dinner and night out on the town with your travel mates!

Day 10: Departure Day (Nov 18)

There is nothing planned for you to do today, so enjoy any free time before your flight exploring the city.
