Animal Rescue Center in Albania

Albania is a mountainous country with an extensive stretch of Adriatic coastline. Its people, having emerged from Communist control in the 1990s, have had difficult economic conditions to endure. Members of Albania’s ‘Romani’ community are particularly hard hit by poverty, low literacy levels as well as suffering considerable discrimination. The Animal Shelter is looking desperately for assistance from international volunteers, and welcomes all those willing to help out with a variety of activities including: cleaning, feeding, maintenance, and caring for the animals. Vets also are welcomed to help with the injured or sick animals. Volunteers who choose to participate in this project will be accommodated in the volunteer house in Tirana with volunteers from our other local projects. Breakfast is provided daily.
