This 27-day eco-tourism program with White Shark Africa brings those eager to learn more about these apex predators. By far, Great White Sharks are some of the most misunderstood creatures in the ocean, largely due to their appearance and representation in movies and media. White Shark Africa works hard to stamp out the myths and misunderstandings of Great Whites by bringing education to the communities, studying them and other species around them, and more. Join this exciting internship in George, South Africa, and have the opportunity to cage dive, scuba dive with other species, participate in educating the local communities and tourists, participate in ecological conservation efforts and much more!
What to Expect: Tagging and other shark data collection - although tagging doesn't happen on Great White Sharks, participants will tag other species of sharks. Community Education - participants will work with local schools to educate them about sharks and the threats against them. Environmental Conservation - participants will work with the Oyster Bay Reserve in order to complete tasks to zero out the carbon footprint. Scuba Diving - participants will have the opportunity to scuba dive with different types of sea life including other species of sharks. This includes cage diving with great white sharks, collecting data and more.
