Climb Mt. Kilimanjaro for a cause on this 15-day adventure expedition with a big heart. Join like-minded travelers as you explore Kenya, give back to the community of Kibera, and embark on a once-in-a-lifetime trek of Mt. Kilimanjaro.

Start your adventure off by visiting a local elephant orphanage, where you will have the opportunity to interact with baby elephants. You will also visit the Nairobi Giraffe Centre where you will be able to see these towering animals up close.

Later, you will visit the community of Kibera, Africa’s largest urban slum. Here, you will work with the organization Mirror of Hope and have a chance to meet your sponser student and family. This experience includes the chance to learn how to cook a traditional Kenyan lunch.

The last week of your adventure will include a jaw-dropping, awe-inspiring trek of Mt. Kilimanjaro. This is sure to be an adventure you will never forget!

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive Nairobi

Adventure Out Loud to meet you at the airport and transfer you to our hotel. Introduction dinner and drinks with the group. Additional activities available upon request for early arrivers.

Day 2: Elephants & Giraffes

Today we hand-feed the majestic giraffes at the amazing Nairobi Giraffe Centre before playing with the cutest baby elephants at the David Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage. Beware of the bonus shower!

After lunch, be inspired by Thomas Nyawir and his incredible Mirror of Hope Team.

Day 3: Kibera Slum Tour

Explore the sights and sounds of Africa’s largest urban slum under the safe guidance of the Mirror of Hope team.

Visit the home of your sponsor student and feast on a delicious traditional Kenyan lunch that you will learn to cook.

Day 4: Help out Kibera

Today is your chance to make a difference by helping The Mirror of Hope facilitate their student holiday program.

Day 5: Travel to Moshi

6:30am departure for Moshi, Tanzania. Arrive at your hotel, check in to your room and relax before dinner.

Day 6: Mt. Kilimanjaro Prep Day

Rest and preparation day with an option to explore town and to hire additional equipment and clothing.

Days 7-14: Mt. Kilimanjaro

Challenge yourself on Mt Kilimanjaro, “The Roof of Africa”. See how far you can mentally and physically push yourself, explore the ever-changing landscapes, make life-long friends from across the globe and stand on the summit of “The World’s Highest Free Standing Mountain in the World”.

Options available to tour The School of St Jude or Arusha town upon request and depending on departure time.
